I have lived in cities most of my life and walking is my favorite method of transportation. South Loop offers everything you need within walking distance. Trader Joe’s is only a couple blocks from my apartment which is a highlight for me. Every other grocery store you could want is a short walk or drive away (Whole Foods, Mariano’s, Jewel), and there are a couple weekly farmer’s markets in the neighborhood. Walgreens is my go-to pharmacy, and with a Target 5 min away what else could you possibly need?
On my days off I love walking through Grant park and admiring the city skyline from the lakefront. The Chicago Riverwalk is only a 20 min walk away, which is one of my favorite parts of the city. South Loop offers a central location for public transit as well. There are multiple L lines at the Roosevelt station, making the rest of the city (and airports) accessible via public transit. The highway being so close by makes the commute to work convenient.
I also love that so many of my co-residents live in the neighborhood. We frequently meet up for last-minute walks, dinners, or drinks.

The ACMC Difference: I heard about ACMC while choosing my MS4 away rotations. I am from the Northeast, and my first time in Chicago was during my rotation! I admired how competent the residents were, prepared to handle anything that came through the door while including students and teaching. We maintain a positive and supportive culture despite our ED craziness, and I look forward to coming to work to see my people.
